Forewind Chairman Charles Hendry MP introduced the Share Fair session at last week's RenewableUK 2013 Annual Conference in Birmingham and emphasised the need for UK companies to take advantage of the offshore wind energy industry's supply chain opportunities.

This video interview summarises his key points from Renewable UK's second Share Fair, a concept modelled on a successful practice from the oil and gas sector.

Its aim was to enable the supply chain to hear directly from the developers and key project partners on their procurement strategies, timescales and pre-qualification requirements.

"We see this as a fantastic opportunity to create new jobs and new companies, with Share Fair being a way of spreading the message out and making sure that SMEs (small to medium enterprises) and others can see where the opportunities are."

He added than an informed offshore wind supply chain will be best placed to provide the necessary innovations, cost efficiencies and supply base that the offshore wind sector requires.
